This past weekend marked the start of my favorite sports season–no it’s not football, baseball, or hockey–it was the start of SKI season. And I couldn’t be any more thrilled! The FIS Alpine World Cup kicked off on Saturday and Sunday with men’s and women’s GS in Söleden, Austria. And, much to my delight, two Americans won!
Now, I still haven’t gotten the chance to watch the races online yet (darn midterms), but I do know the results because I’ve been playing Fantasy Ski Racer with my dad and some of the LHS Ski Team alumni. I’ve always been a fan of fantasy sports (especially baseball!), but something about fantasy ski racing is too good to be true. My family is competitive to begin with, but now that we’re picking the results to our favorite sport, I think the rivalry is going to get pretty intense. I’m thinking it’s gonna be a tight race come January.
However, all of this talk about ski racing really makes me want to get out there and hit the slopes. My one problem? There’s no snow yet!
I know, I know: it’s only October and I can’t really complain until December, but I’m really starting to feel that skier’s itch! I just want to be in the mountains! I guess I’ll just have to keep sane by watching the Söleden races and watching Warren Miller movies on Netflix.
What do you do to deal with the pre ski season itch?
xoxo, Karoline
