This past weekend, I went up to the beautiful state of Vermont with my dad and my sister to visit my grandfather. I was very excited for this trip because I hadn’t been up to VT since I was a sophomore in high school the last time I went up for a visit.
Vermont is very different in the summer then in the winter. Once all the snow has melted, it’s lush and green; filled with wildflowers, animals, and critters of all kinds. But most of all (at least at my Dziadziau’s house), there’s blackberries.
Ever since we were little, my sister has been obsessed with fruit, especially berries. So, whenever we head up to Vermont in the summer she’s basically in heaven. She was picking them for two days! I think when all was said and done, she picked 10 containers of them…and that’s using her “pick one, eat one” method!
One of the other really cool things about Vermont in the summer is the wildlife! At my grandfather’s, we saw everything from hummingbirds and trout to salamanders and frogs! It was so cool! And then, when we were driving home on Sunday morning, we saw a moose!
While we were there, I also got a lot of reading done. I got through most of Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger, so I’ll have a review of that pretty soon. I like it, even if I’m not entirely sure what it’s about. I also finished Love the One You’re With by Emily Griffin, but I don’t think I’ll be posting a review because, to be honest, I just don’t have anything good to say about it. Bummer.
Is there any place you like to go to get away from it all and experience life’s simple pleasures?
xoxo, Karoline
