Groundhog Day

Well, Punxsutawney Phil has spoken, and we’re getting six more weeks of winter.  Wait…WHAT?? As far as I’m concerned, winter never came.  Here it Massachusetts it was a balmy 62˚ yesterday.  We’ve had a few snowflakes here and there, but it’s February and there hasn’t been any lasting snow.  I think we’re in some sort of weird waiting period between fall and spring.

I know it’s not a question of global warming…out west they’ve been getting tons of snow, and in Alaska they’ve been getting so much that they’re scared the roofs are going to collapse.  Also, in Europe, the World Cup ski resorts have been enjoying lots of great snowfall.  SO WHY AREN’T WE GETTING WINTER HERE IN THE NORTEAST?

The northern ski resorts haven’t really been getting snow until the last couple weeks, so I’m excited to head up to New Hampshire and Vermont in the coming weeks.  But is it really too much to ask for a little wintry weather closer to home?  I mean I live in Massachusetts, not Florida…it should be easy to get a little snow.

So I’m sorry, Phil, but you can keep your stupid prediction.  Winter can’t stay for another six weeks if it was never here in the first place.

What do you think? Are you miserable in this non-winter like me?  Or are you loving the warmer temps?

xoxo, Karoline
