Success.

Today’s quote is another reminder that you’re not going to be successful if you don’t actually do something.  Pablo Picasso is definitely a testament to that, as hundreds of his pieces are in museums all over the world.  I think today’s quote would be a good one to look back at when you feel like procrastinating or not doing something.

Did any of you watch the Oscars last night?  You all know I did, thanks to my live-tweeting and the post I made yesterday.  My picks didn’t do so well, I only got 10/24 correct.  My mother, on the other hand, guessed 17/24 thanks to her commitment to picking ‘Hugo’ for nearly everything.

However, my fashion picks were spot-on.  Lots of red? Check! Ladies in purple? Check! Feathers? Check! Velvet? Check!  Peplum-style dresses seemed to be the cut of the night, which isn’t too far removed from my mermaid prediction.

Below are my best-dressed styles of the night.  I LOVED most of the fashions on this year’s red carpet, and there really wasn’t much to balk at.  My three absolute favorites were Michelle Williams in her tangerine tango colored peplum frock, Gwyneth Paltrow and her amazing white cape and one-shouldered gown (my sister and I have taken to calling her Queen Gwyneth), and Natalie Portman’s perfect red polka dotted dress! My other two faves were Stacy Keibler’s gorgeous gold gown (I’ve always had a thing for gold lamé) with George Clooney as the perfect arm-candy, and Octavia Spencer’s beautiful beaded number.  She looked perfect.

Also, my prom dress even made an appearance!  When Cameron Diaz and J-Lo were presenting the award for costume design, they stood in front of an Edith Head sketch.  The Academy organizers could have chosen from literally thousands of sketches to put on the stage, but they chose the one that I based my prom dress off of and my amazing neighbor, Emily, made.  I was so excited!!

How did your Oscar picks pan out? Who were your best dressed?  Leave it in the comments!

xoxo, Karoline
