We need more Easter movies

Shout out to my Aunt Steph for the princess bunny ears!

So it’s Easter weekend and I’m at home.  Naturally, this makes me want to watch movies.  Christmastime has the monopoly on holiday movies with Halloween coming in a close second, while Thanksgiving is the reigning king of TV specials.  But no one seems to care about Easter.  I think that’s a crying shame.

Sure there is Easter Parade, Irving Berlin’s vaguely Easter themed revue starring Fred Astaire and Judy Garland.  Don’t get me wrong, I still love it, but the only really Easter song is “Easter Parade” itself.  And then there’s The Sound of Music, which has become a de-facto Easter movie thanks to it being a TV special this weekend every year. But despite it’s Catholic theme, it’s not really an Easter movie.  It just has a lot of nuns.  Of course there’s also Irving Berlin’s other hit, Holiday Inn, which covers all the bases from Washington’s Birthday to the Fourth of July.  Again, not really Easter centric.  Of course, there’s The Passion of The Christ but that’s not really a feel-good film.

There’s tons of delicious Easter candy (black jelly beans, mini Cadbury’s, chocolate bunnies…I’m getting cavities thinking about it), and I just want something to watch while I enjoy those sweets.  Is that too much to ask??

What do you think…are we lacking in Easter movies? Leave it in the comments!

xoxo, Karoline

PS. Happy Passover!
