A weekend on the Cape

For Columbus Day weekend, I had the pleasure of traveling down to Cape Cod with my boyfriend, Matt. While it was definitely chilly, it definitely didn’t disappoint. The beach was nice, I got to break out my wool sweaters, and we got to see some beautiful fall foliage.

My favorite part of the weekend was walking along the beach. It was cold and windy, but so worth it. When else are you going to have the beaches of Cape Cod to yourself than in October? I took a few pictures and shared them on Instagram, now I’m sharing them here!

How did you spend your long weekend?

Fashion Challenge: 4th of July edition

On Tuesday, I’m heading down to Cape Cod to spend the fourth of July and the following weekend with Matt and his family. It’s going to be a week filled with baseball, fireworks, and the beach…three of America’s favorite pastimes!

I was making a packing list of things and clothes to bring last night when I got a really interesting idea. Since it’s the Fourth of July and since I looooove wearing red, white, and blue together (it’s one of my favorite color combos), wouldn’t it be fun to pack nothing but clothes that are those colors and mix and match? So that’s the plan. I’ve got plenty of items that are either red or navy blue, and I’ve got tons of white staples to pair them with. Basically I’m trying my best to make Betsy Ross proud. It’s going to be fun.

Here are some of the pieces I’ll be playing with–

It’s going to be a fun week!

Are you planning on going all out for “Independence Week”? It’s turning into a bit of a competition between me, my mom, and my sister! Leave your outfit ideas in the comments!

Some Instagram shots from the week

Here are some of my favorite pictures that I took and shared on Instagram this week! (follow me: @karolinez!)

My Aunt Mary and Uncle Dean are currently on vacation in Italy, and they’ve been sending me postcards from all the cities they’re visiting! These are from Venice and Rome, but they sent me some from Florence too!

On Friday, my mom and I went to see Michael J. Fox speak at Middlesex Community College. He was a great speaker, really funny and inspiring. One really cool thing was that the Delorean from Back to the Future was outside the auditorium so that people could take pictures!

This week was super warm and sunny here in Lowell, so that meant one thing…sunbathing!

On Thursday night, the Lowell Spinners had their Media Day to meet the players before the season starts on Monday. It was so cool, and they gave me a press pass! I’m so excited!

I got back from a weekend on the cape Monday evening, and I was sad to leave. This is my train ticket to head home sitting on top of my suitcase.

Have you taken any cool Instagram shots lately? Share in the comments!

Instagram shots of the week!

Last week I put up a post with my favorite Instagram pictures from the week.  I think it’s something I’m going to start doing regularly since I like the way it turned out the 1st time.

I went to the Cape this week, and of course I went to the beach! These are some of the dunes on Mayflower Beach in Dennis.

This is the Judah Baker Windmill in Yarmouth. It’s this really cool old windmill that overlooks the water. My boyfriend was telling me that this is where he would go and bring his lunch when he was in high school.

Also from my trip to the Cape, this is the harbor in Harwichport. There’s this grassy area right on the side of the road, and from what I hear it’s one of the best views on the whole Cape!

This is a building that I saw in Brookline, MA and just had to stop and take a picture of it! I thought it was a beautiful building with interesting architecture. It must be so cool to live there!

Of course I had to document my mom’s famous chocolate chip cookies! She was making them on Saturday, and I couldn’t help but take a picture of them.  And the answer is yes…they do ease just as good as they look!

Cape Cod weekend.

Man, oh, man have I been slacking!  I’m so sorry!! I haven’t been doing quotes, photos of the day, and I totally slacked on Blogfest.  Not good.  But, today I have some pictures to share with you :)

I originally posted these on The Prep Crew this morning, but I figured that it would go nicely on here too:

Hello everyone! I spent this past weekend exploring one of the preppiest vacation spots: Cape Cod.  Despite being from MA, I’d never been before, so it was fun to see all the beaches and cute little towns.  It’s so picturesque!  I’m officially jealous of all of my friends that get to live down there year-round.

I got to walk the beach in March, explore the cute shops of Provincetown, and marvel at all the adorable shingle cottages.  It was a marvelous weekend.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

xoxo, Karoline
