I’m back from vacation!

I’m back! I was without internet and couldn’t post for the last two weeks because I was with my family on the beautiful Maine coast, my favorite place in the world! We had a relaxing two weeks on the beach, although the weather was foggy and miserable pretty much our whole first week there. Luckily, during the second week the sun came out and it was hot. Just the way I like it. Below are a bunch of pictures I took on our trip!

I enjoyed watching the natural wildlife in our cove, including ducks (and super adorable ducklings!!), seals, and gorgeous herons!

For much of the first week, we had nasty fog. But it was still good for practicing golf swings and going for sea glass walks…

Christine came up for a few days!! We went into Kennebunkport for shopping and lunch on one of her days up.

Our friend Katie also came up twice. The first time, she brought her dog, Faith, who just happens to be Maddy‘s mom!

My sister, Hannah, rocked it on guitar both at an open mic night and a campfire!

Katie, my brother, Tom, and I had a blast playing with sparklers!!

Sunsets were appreciated…

Inukshuks were built on the seawall…this is just a sampling, we basically built a whole village. My favorite was Katie’s giraffe that she made!

Lobster was eaten!

And an all-around awesome time was had by all. It was yet another amazing summer vacation at the beach. So perfect.

And now, back to the real world! More work, more applying to jobs, and more seeing friends. Oh, and more blogging :) I missed this over the last two weeks and I’m really excited to post again!

My best friend’s birthday!

Yesterday I helped my best friend, Christine, celebrate her 22nd birthday. We went to the beach (after the pouring rain all afternoon) and then went back to Lowell for dinner and drinks. It was a blast! Birthdays are always fun, but just spending the day goofing off and hanging out with good friends made it that much more fun.

Me, the birthday girl, and Jess!

There were a few no-music dance parties

We found a beach ball to play with.

Before we realized that the water wasn’t actually that cold, Christine tried to drag Jess in.

Silly faces were made.

Jess and I may or may not have pretended to get married, complete with seaweed bouquet….

At dinner, we split beer samples and tried 12 different brews…yum!

The girls! Me, Aly, Christine, and Jess!

Over all it was such an awesome day, and I’m so glad that I got to help Christine celebrate feelin’ twenty-two (I had to make a T-Swift reference sometime, didn’t I?). I can’t wait for more (sunnier) beach days this summer!

A new project: gardening with my mom

In the weeks since I’ve been home, I’ve taken up a new project with my mom–gardening! We used to have a garden by the entrance of my yard when I was a kid, but we kind of lost track with maintaining it and helping it grow. This year, we finally decided to kick-start it back to life and plant some fresh blooms.

My flamingo friends are enjoying their newly lush surroundings

It was fun going to the store and picking out different colors and types of annuals and perennials to plant. Me and my mom both agreed that we wanted peonies and lots of them, so we got a bunch of those. We also picked up some gerber daisies, lupine, bachelor buttons, magnolias, lilies, and zinnias. We played musical chairs with their position until we thought we had a good hight/color ratio, and then we planted them in the ground.

Gerber daisies are one of my favorite flowers, and we’ve got four different colors of them in the garden.

It’s only been two or so weeks since we planted them, but there’s already been a huge improvement and the blooms are really looking pretty. We  are loving that we can cut the daisies and the peonies and make our own arrangements in the house! It makes for fun and colorful bouquets!

Some of the spoils of our hard work!

A weekend on the Cape

For Columbus Day weekend, I had the pleasure of traveling down to Cape Cod with my boyfriend, Matt. While it was definitely chilly, it definitely didn’t disappoint. The beach was nice, I got to break out my wool sweaters, and we got to see some beautiful fall foliage.

My favorite part of the weekend was walking along the beach. It was cold and windy, but so worth it. When else are you going to have the beaches of Cape Cod to yourself than in October? I took a few pictures and shared them on Instagram, now I’m sharing them here!

How did you spend your long weekend?

Some pictures from the last couple weeks!

I spent the last few weeks on vacation in Maine with my family. It’s a fun place where simplicity reigns supreme and where there’s no TV, lots of books are read, boardgames are played, and days are spent out in the sun. As always, we had a blast! If I could make one recommendation for everyone, it would be that they all take a vacation in Maine. It really is wonderful.

I took a bunch of pictures on my phone during out two weeks there and I thought it would be fun to share them here!

This is the beach where we stay. I swear it’s heaven.

I got to see two gorgeous sunrises!

Matt came to visit! And helped me babysit :)

It was fun playing with my photo booth app with Abi and Matt!

And we even got to see a double rainbow over the beach!

It was so much fun playing in the sand and sun for the last two weeks! I miss it, but I’ll be back again eventually!

xoxo, Karoline
