Live Colorfully

I’ve been busy with finals and writing for SoxProspects and The Prep Crew, but I’m home for summer now and I’m bringing Quote of the Day back with a vengeance!

And what better way than to start with this quote from designer Kate Spade. I totally agree with her “live colorfully” philosophy. It’s a way to keep life interesting. Living colorfully adds spunk, spontaneity, and imagination into life. Decorating and dressing colorfully just make you feel good. In short, they’re just great guidelines to live by.

How do you live colorfully?

xoxo, Karoline

Today’s quote is from one of my absolute favorite authors.  Kurt Vonnegut, in my opinion, is one of the funniest men to ever put pen to paper.  I chose this simple quote for today because I have spent a majority of the day outside.  I’m sitting here now blogging this from a bench outside the student center and I’m wearing a tank top and sunglasses.  This is the first day that has really said to me “THIS IS SPRING”, and it’s glorious.

I think one of the first signs of spring for me are when I can eat ice cream outside for the first time without getting too cold.  I had that today.  I’m very happy that the warm weather is back in season!

What are some of the ways that you mark the beginning of spring?

Permanent. Also, I’m getting crafty over vacation!

Today’s quote is from legendary slapstick comic Charlie Chaplin, and is so true in so many different ways.  Just think about it, whatever aversions you might be facing right now, they’ll eventually be gone and they’ll seem small in comparison to the important things.  Don’t sweat the small stuff :)

Last night I was browsing through Pinterest (follow me!), and I found some really cute craft ideas.  One in particular that I want to try over spring break are these adorable recycled t-shirt bangles:

I have sooo many old t-shirts in my drawers, and I think that this could definitely be a fun project!  There’s a tutorial on how to make them on Lil Blue Boo, and I can’t wait to try it out.  I am obsessed with bracelets, and if they turn out nicely they could make awesome gifts! I will definitely keep you all posted as to how they turn out.

Today’s happiness: There is actual snow on the ground! And it’s not melting straight away! To say I’m excited would be a severe understatement.

Have any of you attempted crafts you’ve found on Pinterest? How did they turn out? Leave it in the comments!

I’m officially on Spring Break!  That means me, my dog, some books, and a bunch of movies for the next week.  I am so so so excited!  I’ve got a week of nothing, and I think it’s exactly what I need.  I’m planning on hopefully getting in some skiing, too, since they’ve been getting tons of snow up north.  It should be a good time!

Today’s happiness: Spring break, of course!

Are you on spring break too?  Have any fun plans? Leave it in the comments!

Random act of kindness.

I think that Princess Diana was a very wise woman.  Random acts of kindness are one of my favorite things, and I love doing nice things for others, even if it’s just holding a door open for someone or complementing them on their sweater.  Yesterday’s post is the perfect example of others performing a random act of kindness.  What are some ways you help to brighten others’ days?

Another thing I wanted to write about today is how proud I am of my younger brother, Tom!  A couple weeks ago, I said he was going for an interview, and he got the job!  He’s a junior at Greater Lowell Technical HS where he studies machine tech, and he scored a position with the Straumann company!  I think it’s so cool that he gets to work in the field he’s studying while he’s still in high school.  That’s such a huge deal!  Tommy, I know you’re reading this, so CONGRATS! I am so so so proud of you!

One last thing is that I am going to be participating in the #marchphotoaday challenge!  One thing I noticed in January and February was that these photo a day challenges were taking the blogosphere by storm.  They’re made by Fat Mum Slim and have become incredibly popular.  I’m excited to be taking pictures!  I’ll be posting them here on the blog everyday, as well as posting them on Instagram (follow me, @KarolineZ !), Twitter, and Facebook.  If anyone else is going to be participating, drop a link to where I can see your pictures in the comments!  I love to share!

Today’s happiness: I got to write a psych paper on psychology in advertising.  I basically just had a blast writing about this commercial from the 70’s:

Sooo cheesy, right?!  It was super fun to analyze though!

Have you performed any random acts of kindness lately? Are you doing #marchphotoaday? Leave it in the comments!! :)
